The day that celebrates the essence of a mother is Mother's Day 2012. One of those occasions that none of us can afford to miss, Mother's Day 2012 is something everyone can relate to. People across regions, religions, castes, cultures, genders and financial status have emotions binding them to their mothers. There could not be a more universal celebration than this one.
It is one of the most popular of all such days that honour relationships. Of the many people who add value to our lives, a mother is undoubtedly the most special. Whether it is your own mom or someone you look up to, the basic thought behind Mother's Day is expressing yourself to that someone who has been with you throughout your life.
Any and every celebration is incomplete without the ritual of giving gifts. This is true for Mother's day as well. One of the ways of letting her know that she is indeed valued by you is by gifting her on this occasion.

North Korea Makes Threats Against US and South Korea

North Korea Makes Threats Against US and South Korea

A powerful North Korean military leader has made some harsh comments against the US and South Korea. The statements come just a short few weeks after their launch-test missile failed in front of the world’s media. KTVU has more details.

“North Korea has some threatening words for the US this morning, a senior North Korean army official says his country is armed with powerful mobile weapons that are capable of striking the US.”

The threats made against the US come as North Korea’s army celebrates their 80th anniversary today, April 25th. Fox News addressed the cause of North Korea’s threatening statements, speaking to Jim Walsh - an international security expert from MIT, who believe their motives don’t seem out of the ordinary.

“It fits the pattern of history. In the past they have had a missile test followed by a nuclear test. That missile test did not go well so this is a way for them to recoup and save some face.”

A writer for The Chrisitan Science Monitor says the new military leader for North Korea needs to convince the population that he has control. They spoke to Mark Fitzpatrick, a former US State Department official, for his expertise.

“'Yet another issue is the need to convince the North Korean people that Kim Jong-un is a strong leader, capable of controlling a military establishment ... while solidifying his power over the country. Having failed on the missile, they’ve got to do something that goes boom,' says Fitzpatrick.”

The ongoing political disputes between the North and South are flaring with the military threats. The Chosunilbo, a South Korean news publication, agrees that the motive is an attempt to save face.

“Every time it becomes more isolated, North Korea typically steps up its threats…The regime is probably trying to regain face by turning aggressively on South Korea. Although the threats may sound like emotional blather, Seoul needs to be fully prepared to deal with any provocations, and if the North does act on its words, it must respond in such a way as to stop North Korea ever thinking of doing it again.”

The Korean Herald reported that the threats could actually be real after speaking to World North Korea Research Center director Ahn Chan-il.

“(North Korea) always conducts attacks under unpredictable circumstances, so an attack is entirely possible.”

Since the military threats from North Korea increased, the Obama administration has chosen to halt food aid to the country. The Chosunilbo says even China agreed to the UN’s Security Council condemnation.

Latest Solar Flare Activity: Report of latest solar flare activity April 26 2012

A long lasting Geomagnetic Storm that reached very close to the Strong G3 Level took place Monday night and early Tuesday morning. Visible Aurora was seen in many locations and Ham Radio operators were able to make numerous contacts via the Aurora on the 6 meter (50mhz) amateur radio band. This storm was due to a sharply south pointing component of the Interplanetary Magnetic Field (IMF) that allowed the solar wind to flow in and generate aurora. Things are now starting to return to quieter levels.

UPDATE: Minor Geomagnetic Storm conditions (Kp=5) did again flare up on both Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. The solar wind is currently near 500 km/s. Be on the lookout for Aurora at very high latitudes.

Updated 4/26/2012 @ 13:40 UTC
Solar Update
Solar activity is currently at very low levels. Sunspot 1460 just rotated onto the western limb and out of direct Earth view. Sunspot 1459 which continues to decay, will also join 1460 on the limb by the weekend. Elsewhere, Sunspot 1465 did have a Beta-Gamma-Delta magnetic configuration, but has itself decayed and is no longer a threat for strong solar flares. There will continue to be a chance for C-Class flares.

South Korea 'On Alert' for Possible North Korea Attack

Police say they have increased patrols around headquarters of nine conservative media outlets in Seoul after North Korea vowed to soon carry out a "special military action" on them by "unprecedented means and methods."

South Korea's government says it is concerned about Pyongyang's threat to reduce to ashes, in several minutes, the support base for the country's president, including several broadcasters and a leading daily newspaper, the Dong-a Ilbo.

Foreign ministry spokesman Cho Byung-je characterizes the latest threat from Pyongyang as “very dangerous and harsh.”

Cho says South Korea's government and military are strengthening their security postures and are on alert to prepare for any situation. He also warns that any military provocation by North Korea will be answered with a punishment by the South.

At the defense ministry, spokesman Kim Min-suk tells reporters he can say little about the possibility of fresh provocations by North Korea.

Kim says South Korean forces are monitoring the North's military but he cannot elaborate.

Officials in the South Korean government say there are no reports of any unusual military movements in the North.

That has led to speculation that the unique assault North Korea's military vows to carry out against the South could be nontraditional, such as cyber attacks on the government and media.

Kim Hung-kwang, who was a computer science professor at a North Korean university - and now heads a defectors' intellectual group - says Pyongyang has a proven capability for distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks via the Internet.

Kim says he anticipates North Korea will attempt something much more paralyzing than those previous attacks, such as taking down South Korean government internal computer systems. And as far as an attack on the South Korean media, he says, based on Monday's declared threat by Pyongyang, it will be something unexpected and unprecedented.

Tension has been high on the Korean peninsula since the sinking of a South Korean naval ship in the Yellow Sea and the shelling of one of its frontier islands in 2010.

North Korea has denied any involvement in the first incident but acknowledged the second attack, saying it was responding to the South's provocative military exercise in disputed waters.

The North has a long history of terrorist attacks against the South, including attempts to assassinate South Korean presidents.

In recent days Pyongyang's state media reported North Koreans rallied in the streets to demand South Korean president Lee Myung-bak be killed.

North Korea has accused Lee of the “unforgivable sin” of insulting the country while mourning was under way for its late leader, Kim Jong Il and then celebrating, this month, the centennial of the birth of the nation's founder, Kim Il Sung.

Latest Solar Flare Activity: Todays Solar Flare Activity April 23 2012 Causing Geomagnetic Storm Aurora

Aurora Watch / G1 Geomagnetic Storm
A incoming CME shock swept past our planet at 03:25 UTC. A geomagnetic sudden impulse of 31 nT was detected by the Boulder, Colorado magnetometer. The ACE Spacecraft did show a solar wind increase to near 400 km/s. Only minor geomagnetic activity resulted at very high latitudes.
Update: A Minor Geomagnetic Storm (Kp=5) is now in progress at high latitudes. This is due to a south tilting component of the Interplanetary Magnetic Field combined with an elevated solar wind speed. Be on the lookout for Aurora if it is dark outside.

420 meaning 4 20 April 20 2012 http://ping.fm/Armar

420 meaning 4 20 April 20 2012

420, 4:20 or 4/20 (pronounced four-twenty) refers to consumption of cannabis and, by extension, a way to identify oneself with cannabis subculture. The notable day for these is April 20

What does 420 friendly mean? What is 420 friendly definition 420 friendly can easily be summed up in one sentence. Well…actually a few sentences. Obviously if you know what the number “420” means then you can figure out the rest. The definition of 420 is slang for marijuana. Click here to check out the origin and the definition of 420. Let’s start this again, “420” is code word for marijuana and the word “friendly” obviously means cordial. Put them together and you have the definition for 420 friendly.

April 20 4/20 in U.S. has evolved into a counterculture holiday, where people gather to celebrate and consume cannabis Some events have a political nature to them, advocating for the decriminalization of non-medical cannabis in the United States

A large celebration is held every year on the University of Colorado's Boulder campus, with attendance reaching more than 11,000 in 2008. It has been estimated that in 2009 the crowd surpassed the 10,000 attendee mark that was set in 2008. This would make CU Boulder's celebration of the hopeful legalization of marijuana one of the largest such celebrations in the United States. University police have tried various methods to prevent the gathering, including photographing students participating in the event, but the crowd has grown every year. The university and police have taken a more hands-off approach since 2006, emphasizing event safety over possession citations. Recent growth of the medical marijuana industry in Colorado is expected to add momentum to future events.

On April 15, 2009, the Office of the Chancellor sent an e-mail to all CU students regarding the 2009 celebration of 4/20 stating that the event would debase "the reputation of your university and degree." The CU student newspaper disagreed with the Chancellor's analysis
No possession tickets were issued at the 2009 event

NASA says all signs go for first private flight to space station spacex

A private spaceship mission to the International Space Station is on track for a planned April 30 launch, which will mark a historic first for the orbiting laboratory, NASA officials announced today (April 16).

A private spaceship mission to the International Space Station is on track for a planned April 30 launch, which will mark a historic first for the orbiting laboratory, NASA officials announced April 16.
The launch will kick off a pivotal demonstration flight for the unmanned Dragon capsule built by the company Space Exploration Technologies (SpaceX) of Hawthorne, Calif. During the mission, the gumdrop-shaped spacecraft will rendezvous with the space station, be captured by astronauts operating a robotic arm and offload some cargo.
If successful, it will be the first time a commercial American robotic spacecraft has ever flown to the International Space Station.
NASA space station managers and SpaceX officials met earlier today to review the Dragon spacecraft's readiness for its debut trip to the orbiting lab. They said the capsule is on track to blast off in two weeks, but only if a few remaining issues are resolved.

Papua New Guinea earthquake no tsunami alert

A 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck off the north coast of Papua New Guinea on Tuesday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The quake struck at a depth of 125.5 miles and was centered 137 km north of Lae, Papua New Guinea's second-largest city,

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said no destructive Pacific-wide tsunami was expected.

Papua New Guinea is on the geologically active Pacific Ring of Fire and suffers many earthquakes but often avoids major damage and casualties because most of its people live in light and flexible housing.

However, more than 2,000 people were killed in 1998 when a 7.0 magnitude quake struck off Papua New Guinea's north coast, causing a tsunami that smashed into isolated villages.

Tupac Shakur on stage at Coachella as a hologram

Tupac Shakur was resurrected at the Coachella Music Festival in California.
The late rapper, slain in a hail of bullets in 1996, seemingly returned to life Sunday night to perform alongside fellow hip-hop icons Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre.
While the shirtless Tupac, dressed in jeans and Timberland boots, might have looked real to the 100,000 stunned music fans, it was actually a hologram.
Dre, who also produced the performance, tapped a company called AV Concepts to pull off the concert stunt, which is estimated to have cost nearly $400,000.
But first he sought — and got — permission from Tupac’s mother, Afeni Shakur, who watched the performance live on the Internet,

The performance had fans abuzz.
“It was eerily realistic,” says Jessie Goldberg, a 25-year-old New Yorker who works for GoTryItOn.com, a photo fashion site, who was at the concert.
“The screens had Tupac performing, which made you think it was an old performance. But then you actually saw the hologram on stage with Snoop, who was performing with him.”

On Twitter, one fan wrote: “Was completely freaked out by the Tupac hologram and I’m fairly certain I was one of five people out of 100,000 not on drugs.”
The faux Tupac, whose murder at age 25 remains unsolved, performed two of his hits, “Hail Mary” and “2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted.”
He even addressed the crowd.
“What the f— is up, Coachella?” the rapper asked upon taking the stage.
Having previously created concert holograms for Janet Jackson, Celine Dion and the Black Eyed Peas, AV Concepts took Dr. Dre’s visualization of Tupac and made it a reality.
“Dre’s company produced the content with their partners and we consulted with them on how to create it for this technology,” says Nick Smith, president and original founder of AV Concepts.
“It’s basically an old theatrical trick that utilizes a glass-like surface made out of a Mylar material. Think of it as a large giant plastic sheet that has to be stretched out the length of the stage.”
Unbeknownst to audience members, the 30-foot-by-13-foot screen descended to the stage mere seconds before Snoop’s set. A high-definition 3-D holographic projection system then simultaneously blasted three stacked 54,000-lumen images of Tupac on the see-through screen. (For reference, a 75-watt incandescent light bulb emits 1,100 lumens.)

Easy Website Promotion: IRS gives taxpayers more time to file, not to pay ...

Easy Website Promotion: IRS gives taxpayers more time to file, not to pay ...:
Not going to make this year's deadline for filing your federal tax return? No need to panic just yet.
Uncle Sam will grant you a six-month extension to file your tax forms, as long as you make the request by midnight Tuesday.
Filing for an extension doesn't spare you from having to pay your tax bill by the deadline, however. And failing to do so means you'll incur interest charges and fees on top of what you owe.
The Internal Revenue Service accepts extension requests three ways: By mail, via tax-preparation software, or online via the IRS website, www.irs.gov.
To request the extension, you must fill out IRS Form 4868, which is available on the IRS website, through most tax preparation software, as well as in public libraries and post offices.
If you opt to mail in the form it has to be postmarked by Tuesday to be considered on time. Forms filed online on the IRS website or by using tax software can be sent in as late as 11:59 p.m. EDT on Tuesday. One bonus of filing online is the IRS will confirm receipt of the request form right away.
If accepted, the extension request will give you until Oct. 16 to file a complete tax return. But that doesn't buy you more time to pay any taxes you may owe.
The IRS requires taxpayers to pay up by Tuesday's deadline, or face a host of penalties.
If you file your tax return on time or get an extension, but fail to pay, the IRS will charge you interest on unpaid taxes. That rate currently works out to about 3.25 percent and is compounded daily.
The IRS also will charge you a late payment penalty of one-half of 1 percent of any tax not paid by April 17. That translates to a $25 penalty if you owe $5,000. It is charged each month or part of a month the tax goes unpaid, up to 25 percent, or $1,250 on that $5,000.
That interest rate can jump to 1 percent, however, if the tax bill hasn't been paid within 10 days after the IRS issues a notice of intent to levy. But if you work out a payment plan with the IRS, it will reduce the rate to one-quarter of 1 percent.
The last thing you want to do is miss the tax filing deadline and not ask for an extension. That triggers a penalty of 5 percent of the tax owed for each month the tax return is late, for up to five months.
It's best not to try to calculate what you might owe in penalties and interest, the IRS will send a bill if you underpay.
What about filers who haven't sorted out their tax return yet and don't know how much they owe?
"They can send a payment to the IRS based on what they believe will be their tax debt, and once they have the extra six months, they can square everything away," said Annabel Marquez, a spokeswoman for IRS.
If your earnings were roughly the same in 2011 as in 2010, the easiest way to estimate what you owe is to add in slightly more than you owed last year. If you overpay, you'll get a refund after you file your return. If you underpay, you'll have to pay a penalty and interest on the difference.
The IRS accepts payments by check, online or by phone using a credit or debit card. More details on making payments are available on the IRS website.

Latest Breaking News Daily: Gas Prices Could Hit $1.60 in Canada

Canadians already hit with gas price shock could soon be paying even more at the pumps due to supply problems and the possibility of conflict in the Middle East, the Bank of Montreal says.
Gas prices across Canada jumped from an average of $1.20 in January to around $1.40 this week. That was the average pump price in Toronto this week, and in Montreal prices are hovering around $1.47. They are now 8 per cent higher than they were at this time last year, even though oil prices are slightly lower than they were in April of 2011.

Gas Prices Could Hit $1.60 in Canada

Canadians already hit with gas price shock could soon be paying even more at the pumps due to supply problems and the possibility of conflict in the Middle East, the Bank of Montreal says.
Gas prices across Canada jumped from an average of $1.20 in January to around $1.40 this week. That was the average pump price in Toronto this week, and in Montreal prices are hovering around $1.47. They are now 8 per cent higher than they were at this time last year, even though oil prices are slightly lower than they were in April of 2011.
The risk of gas prices hitting $1.60 per litre are “not insignificant,” BMO Capital Markets senior economist Sal Gualtieri wrote in a note Thursday.
"Although crude oil prices are expected to hover near $100 a barrel in the year ahead, the risk of a near-term spike is elevated due to potential supply disruptions," he wrote.
At the same time, oil speculators -- investors who buy oil in order to sell it at a higher price later -- are driving up oil prices beyond what the market would normally sustain.
Oil trading analyst Jim Ritterbusch told the Globe and Mail there is a near-record number of speculative contracts on the oil market right now, who are trying to cash in on supply problems caused by struggling U.S. refineries.
Chief among these is a Sunoco refinery in Philadelphia that is faltering under lagging demand in the eastern U.S. and foreign competition, and can’t find a buyer.

“The Sunoco situation is significant and the market has priced in a closure of that facility by July,” Ritterbusch told the Globe. “This is a real sweet spot in terms of speculative interest in the gasoline market.”
Then there is the problem of the Middle East. If open conflict between Iran and the U.S. or Israel were to break out, and Iran blockaded the Strait of Hormuz, as it has threatened, oil prices could spike to crisis levels.
"The Iranian situation could disrupt oil shipments in the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for one-fifth of globally traded oil,” BMO’s Gualtieri wrote. “This would likely push crude prices back to 2008's high of $147 a barrel."
At those price levels, it’s unlikely Canada could avoid an economic slowdown.

Indonesia - tsunami alert over Massive Earthquake April 11, 2012

A tsunami watch declared after two major earthquakes off the coast of Indonesia's Aceh province has now been cancelled, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center (PWTC) says.

Two hours after the quakes - one with a magnitude of 8.6, the other measuring 8.3 - the centre says "the threat has diminished or is over for most areas".

The alerts caused panic as people fled buildings and made for high ground.

There have been no immediate reports of damage or casualties.

India, Thailand and Sri Lanka have also lifted their own tsunami warnings.

In India, tremors were felt in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andaman and Nicobar islands, Assam and West Bengal.
Banda Aceh in Indonesia was near the epicentre of a devastating 9.1-magnitude quake in 2004 that triggered a tsunami across the Indian Ocean, which killed 220,000 people, including 170,000 in Aceh. Residents in Banda Aceh reported the ground shaking violently. The ground shook for nearly five minutes with telephone connections going down briefly. Terrified people left their dwellings and ran for cover.
People were trying to leave affected area, with whatever modes of transport available. Traffic jams were seen everywhere. U.S. monitors issued an Indian Ocean-wide tsunami watch but said it was not yet certain a giant wave had been generated. “Earthquakes of this size have the potential to generate a widespread destructive tsunami that can affect coastlines across the entire Indian Ocean basin,” the U.S. Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre said.
With tremors felt in Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and Sri Lanka tsunami warnings have been issued. A big tremor was felt in the island resort of Phuket in Thailand. Phone lines to the area are jammed. At least one luxury hotel was evacuating people to higher ground.

nhl playoffs nhl standings Western Conference Playoff To Play Saturday

Only three of the eight Eastern Conference playoff positions are still to be determined on the final day of the NHL season. In the Western Conference, there's a whole lot more up for grabs. In fact, there's not one single position that's been determined out West, so let's just run through this team-by-team.
Vancouver (109 pts, 42 Regulation + OT Wins): The Canucks control their destiny for the No. 1 seed in the West. With a single point in Edmonton against the Oilers, they'll clinch the top-seed. If they lose, the Blues can pass them in the standings via tiebreaker situations.
Vancouver can also win the Presidents' Trophy depending on what the New York Rangers do in their game vs. the Washington Capitals.
St. Louis (107 pts, 44 ROW): The Blues have clinched at least the No. 2 seed, but fell out of contention for the Presidents' Trophy with their loss to Phoenix Friday night. They need a Vancouver loss and a win of their own over Dallas to have a chance at the No. 1 seed. St. Louis holds the tiebreaker if the teams end up tied.
Nashville (102 pts, 42 ROW): They can finish in either the No. 4 spot or the No. 5 spot. With a single point vs. the Avalanche, the Predators will clinch home-ice against either the Red Wings or Blackhawks in Round 1, but with a regulation loss, the Preds could fall to the No. 5 seed should Detroit win their game against Chicago. If the Wings fail to beat the Hawks, Nashville will clinch the No. 4 seed.
Detroit (101 pts, 39 ROW): The Red Wings can finish anywhere between fourth and sixth. If Nashville earns a point, Detroit will be eliminated from contention for the No. 4 seed, thus making the Saturday showdown between the Wings and Blackhawks a battle for the No. 5 seed.
If Chicago wins in regulation, the teams would finished deadlocked in points and ROW but the Blackhawks would win the second tiebreaker as winners of the season series. If Detroit grabs one point, they'll clinch at least the fifth spot.
Chicago (99 pts, 38 ROW): Chicago is fighting for the No. 5 seed and the right to travel to Nashville for the first round, although finishing sixth and playing the eventual Pacific Division winner might be the ideal scenario for them. The Blackhawks need two points in regulation to pass Detroit via tiebreaker for the No. 5 seed. Otherwise, they'll finish sixth.
Phoenix (95 pts, 35 ROW): The Coyotes' win over St. Louis on Friday night kept them in the running for the Pacific Division title and the No. 3 seed. With two points vs. Minnesota Saturday, Phoenix will clinch the division, thus forcing Los Angeles and San Jose into a battle for the No. 7 and No. 8 seeds.
Since the Sharks and Kings play each other head-to-head, one of them is guaranteed to finish with 96 points, meaning that Phoenix will lose their shot at the division championship if they fail to get at least a point vs. the Wild. If they only grab a single point, tiebreaker scenarios will come into play.
The Coyotes have already clinched the tiebreaker over the Sharks, but it's a little more dicey with the Kings. An L.A. shootout win would give Phoenix the Pacific via the ROW tiebreaker, but if L.A. were to beat San Jose in regulation or overtime, the Kings would tie Phoenix in both points and ROW, pushing it to the second tiebreaker. Los Angeles earned eight points in six games vs. Phoenix this season compared to seven points in those games for the Coyotes, thus giving the Kings that tiebreaker.
Los Angeles (94 pts, 34 ROW): With a loss to San Jose in any form, the Kings will finish in the No. 8 spot. They need a win and help from Phoenix to keep hope for the Pacific Division title alive. There's hope via the tiebreaker if Phoenix earns one point, but if the Coyotes grab two, the Kings and Sharks will be playing for seventh and eighth on Saturday night.
San Jose (94 pts, 33 ROW): The Sharks face the same situation. A loss means they finish in eighth place, but even with a win they need help the Minnesota Wild to beat Phoenix in regulation to have a shot at the Pacific crown.

How to hard boiled eggs

Latest Breaking News Daily: How to hard boiled eggs

Choose the right size pot to cook your eggs in: The eggs must not be stacked but be in one (1) layer only. Gently place the eggs in a single layer in a pan with enough cold water to cover eggs completely (approximately by 1 inch of water over the top of the eggs).

Too much water will take too long for the water to get boiling, which can throw off the timing and give you overcooked eggs. Too little water causes parts of the eggs to be exposed and end up undercooked.

If you have 2 or 3 layers of eggs stacked up in a small pot, they may cook unevenly. Use a large pan and limit cooking to two (2) dozen eggs at a time only.

Over high heat, bring water JUST to a rapid boil.

As soon as the water reaches a rapid boil, remove pan from heat and cover egg pan tightly with a lid.

Set timer for 17 minutes for large eggs or 20 minutes for jumbo eggs.

After 17 or 20 minutes (depending on size of your eggs), remove lid and drain off water from the eggs.

Watch the time when cooking the eggs carefully. Overcooking causes a green layer to form around the yolk. This layer is caused by a reaction between the iron in the yolk and the sulfur in the white. Heat speeds up this reaction, so the longer your eggs cook, the greater the chance of discoloration.

IMPORTANT - Stop the cooking process - Residual Heat or "Carry Over Heat."

After the eggs are removed from the heat source, some cooking will continue, particularly the yolk of the egg. This is due to residual heat called “carry over cooking,” For this reason, transfer the eggs to the bowl of ice cubes and/or cold water after the cooking time is over. While they're in the cold water, a layer of steam develops between the shell and the egg white. The steam helps make peeling an egg much easier.

Let eggs cool at least 10 minutes in cold water, then drain. Either store in refrigerator or peel the eggs (see below for How To Peel Hard-Cooked Eggs Easily).

A quick test to ensure that your eggs are hardboiled: When eggs have cooled, spin them on a hard surface (just like you would spin a top). If the eggs spins quickly without taking off or flying off in one direction, the egg is hard boiled and finished. Undercooked eggs (or uncooked eggs) will have a wobbly and unsteady spin.

Dallas texas tornados Left huge mess

Regions of Texas received tornado warnings on Tuesday, as tornadoes touched down in the state.
One of the warnings issued for Eastern Dallas County in North Central Texas by the National Weather Service stated that "meteorologists confirmed a large and dangerous tornado near Hutchins. This is a dangerous situation ... seek shelter now!! This is a tornado emergency for Dallas and Hutchins!"
They offered instructions to accompany the warning, suggesting that people move underground or to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. People in a mobile home or vehicle should move to the nearest shelter and protect themselves from flying debris. For a full list of warnings for all regions, visit the NWS website.
The Associated Press reported on the Texas tornadoes, writing that two large twisters were confirmed in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, with a tornado near Cleburne causing "considerable damage":

In Lancaster, south of Dallas, local television footage showed homes without roofs while other buildings were flattened. Plywood was strewn on the grass and on top of buildings. Residents could be seen walking down the street with firefighters and peering into homes, looking at the damage after the storm passed. The storm pushed cars into fences and toppled trees. Branches and limbs were scattered across lawns and in the streets. A tow-behind RV was torn apart and crumpled in a driveway where part of a roof of the home was torn off.
"Obviously we're going to have a lot of assessments to make when this is done," Dallas County spokeswoman Maria Arita told The Associated Press.
Dallas Police spokeswoman Sherri Jeffrey said an apparent twister also touched down and caused damage within the city's southern limits, though the extent was not immediately known.
DFW Airport spokesman David Magana told WFAA-TV that airport employees pulled passengers away from glass windows and into inside areas of the airport as the storms moved through.

Instagram for Android

By now, you've got to be familiar with Instagram. Sure, you may have never used the app, which until mere minutes ago had yet to make its way beyond iOS, but you've surely seen the results, in tweets, emails or littering your Facebook feed. And beginning this very moment, you can join in on the fun, even if you've never owned an Apple device. We took instantly to Instagram for Android -- the app offers an experience nearly identical to the iOS version, though the ability to capture and manipulate images on a larger device brought a unique twist to the wildly popular image manipulation experience.

We decided to start off our snaps with a Samsung Galaxy Note, which not only offers a brilliant 1280 x 800-pixel display, but also a 5.3-inch surface on which to frame images and preview filters. Beyond the enormous variety of capture tools now available, it seems that not much has changed -- your favorite filters are still there, making those smartphone shots glow just as brilliantly as before. And, if you happen to despise the Instagram effect, this would probably be a good time to take that long-planned holiday from social media -- if it hasn't already, your screen is about to explode with colorful perfect squares of image funk goodness.

marbury v. madison

President Obama is a former president of the Harvard Law Review and famously taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago. But did he somehow not teach the historic case of Marbury v. Madison?
That's a fair question after Mr. Obama's astonishing remarks on Monday at the White House when he ruminated for the first time in public on the Supreme Court's recent ObamaCare deliberations. "I'm confident that the Supreme Court will not take what would be an unprecedented, extraordinary step of overturning a law that was passed by a strong majority of a democratically elected Congress," he declared.
Presidents are paid to be confident about their own laws, but what's up with that "unprecedented"? In Marbury in 1803, Chief Justice John Marshall laid down the doctrine of judicial review. In the 209 years since, the Supreme Court has invalidated part or all of countless laws on grounds that they violated the Constitution. All of those laws were passed by a "democratically elected" legislature of some kind, either Congress or in one of the states. And no doubt many of them were passed by "strong" majorities.
As it happens, probably stronger majorities than passed the Affordable Care Act. Readers may recall that the law was dragooned through a reluctant Senate without a single GOP vote and barely the 60 votes needed to break a filibuster. Despite a huge Democratic majority in the House, it passed by only 219-212.
One reason the law may be overturned is because it was rushed through Congress without a standard "severability" clause that says that the rest of the law stands if one part is judged unconstitutional. Congress jammed it into law because it became ever more unpopular the more the public looked at it. The law is even less popular today than it was on the day it passed in 2010.
Mr. Obama's remarks suggest he is joining others on the left in warning the Justices that they will pay a political price if they dare to overturn even part of the law. As he runs for re-election, Mr. Obama's inner community organizer seems to be winning out over the law professor.

Buy Or Make Your Own Kombucha Tea

http://kombuchagreentea.blogspot.ca/

It’s super simple to make your own kombucha tea, which is awesome because the store bought sort can be super expensive. When you make kombucha, you’re basically hopping up a colony of healthy bacteria with sugar and caffeine. All you need to whip up a batch of your own kombucha tea is sugar, black or green tea bags, and a SCOBY (more on the SCOBY below!).

Kombucha tea is full of health benefits. This fermented food has lots of “good” bacterial, sort of like you’d find in yogurt, which is excellent for digestion. It also contains lots of B vitamins and vitamin C!
Kombucha Tea Recipe

Ingredients

* 1 gallon container with a lid
* SCOBY – you can get one from a friend or make your own
* 4 bags of green or black tea – you can experiment with different teas, as long as the tea you use is caffeinated.
* 1 cup of sugar
* 1 gallon of water
* cheese cloth or a cloth napkin
* rubber band

Directions

1. Boil your water, then combine it with the tea bags and the sugar in your container. You want to steep your tea for at least half an hour. Once the tea is steeped, you’ll need to wait until the water gets down to room temperature, so you won’t damage your SCOBY!
2. Drop the SCOBY into the tea mixture, cover the container with cheese cloth, and rubber band it shut.
3. Stick the container in a cool, dark place, like the back of a cabinet, and let it steep for 10 days.
4. Once your kombucha is ready, transfer the SCOBY along with enough kombucha to cover it to a separate container, put the lid on your kombucha container and refrigerate it.

That’s it! You’re ready to enjoy tasty, homemade kombucha tea. Sometimes when you’re making kombucha your SCOBY will multiply. If it does, you can hook up a friend who wants to start brewing her own kombucha!

1940 census national archives

Americans responded in overwhelming numbers Monday to the online release of detailed information from the 1940 census — the first time such a trove of historic census records has been available on the Internet.

Minutes after its launch, the 1940 census portal on the National Archives and Record Administration website was all but impenetrable. Officials apologized and promised the website would be accessible as soon as possible.

"In the first three hours, we had 22.5 million hits," said Susan Cooper, spokeswoman for the National Archives. "We're a victim of our own success."

Cooper said the archives had anticipated significant interest in the release, which included nearly 4 million images of painstakingly handwritten census pages. Some people were able to access the site, but others endured long waits or were not able to get on at all, she said.

"It's frustrating, and we share that frustration with the public," Cooper said. "We're working as fast as we can to fix the problem."

Individual records from a decennial census become public every 10 years, as soon as the government's legally mandated 72-year waiting period expires. But release of the 1940 documents had been awaited more eagerly than usual, partly because they will be searchable online. Genealogists, historians and family history buffs also say this particular census, the 16th conducted, sheds light on an especially interesting period of U.S. history.

Michael Snow, a Census Bureau historian, said the newly released information helps to fill in a portrait of the nation as it dug its way out of the Great Depression and stood at the brink of World War II. The records offer details on the period's great westward migration, prompted by Depression-era job losses and the Dust Bowl conditions that hit the Great Plains about the same time.

A new question, Snow said — one of many on the 1940 census — asked people where they had lived five years earlier.

"People at the time talked about people they knew taking to the roads in great numbers," the historian said. "Southern California, and the Central Valley in particular, were an epicenter of that migration. And this question was a way to capture that movement."

Other information being released includes people's names, ages, addresses, marital status and number of children. It also includes occupations, and for a sample of respondents, how much they earned.

The site cannot yet be searched using names. But plugging in an address or approximate location will lead to the appropriate "enumeration district" — the area a census taker covered.

Armed with the district's number, researchers can locate and browse the scanned images of handwritten logs in order to find the names and addresses they are seeking.

About 21 million of the 132.2 million Americans counted in 1940 are still alive, officials said.

Among them is Jay Holladay, a retired engineer from La Crescenta who was then 3 years old and living with his family near Sacramento. Holladay said he looks forward to searching the records for information about his parents — especially his father, who died a number of years ago.

"My mom and dad had gotten married in 1935, and I know my dad had a little farming operation," said Holladay, a longtime volunteer with the Southern California Genealogical Society. "That's part of the fun of the chase with this. We moved to San Francisco a few years later, and he was doing something entirely different. I'll be interested in what it says about how he described himself and where they were living."

Holladay is the local society's coordinator for its part in a national project to help the archives create a name-based index for the new website. Others involved in that effort include commercial family history sites such as Archives.com, as well as FamilySearch.org, the genealogy organization run by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Some privacy advocates have sounded concerns about such a wide-scale, online release of information about living people. The American Civil Liberties Union, for example, has long opposed unrestricted use of census records.

"Just because information is old doesn't mean it isn't intensely personal to the people it's about," said Chris Calabrese, legislative counsel with the ACLU.

For example, he cited the case of someone born out of wedlock who might be embarrassed by census records that publicly confirm that fact.

The ACLU also is concerned about how technology could be used to combine the census' rich trove of personal data with other information to build highly detailed, intrusive images of people's lives, Calabrese said.

End of the World Predictions Are They Credible?

2012 End of the World Predictions ? Are They Credible?

Now that the whole world is anticipating for the upcoming year 2012; when different prophecies cave in about its potential mass destruction, there are still several people who are reluctant about this occurrence. You should know that with these ongoing rumors continued to spread, more and more people are being attracted by the idea that the world will really end in 2012. There are many 2012 end of the world predictions that has been circulating around and all of these rumors have one common thought; the earth will suffer a catastrophic happening that will nearly wipe away everything in it.
There are different astrologers that are backing up this idea. Some of them stated that here will be a massive asteroid that will hit earth in 2012. Although not having head on collision, the asteroid is said to pass the earth so close that the planet will suffer extreme changes in climate and several devastation will arise. These occurrences can really devastate the planet and everything in its path.
Another prediction came from the Mayan stating that in December 21, 2012, the planet will suffer from an immense devastation that will wipe away all things in it. They also believed that there are beings more supreme that human that once walked the earth. According to theories, these beings will come back to earth and will wreak havoc in the planet. This end of the world predictions can really give you the chills down to your spine if you will let it sink into your mind. However, there are people who do not believe in these predictions.
These people stressed out that there are no such things as devastation in 2012. They indicated that these rumors about 2012 came in order to support the Mayan calendar. Nevertheless, for whatever reasons, you should know how to deal with these rumors effectively in order to get the best knowledge about these things.
Overall, with these predictions continuing to cause scare and apprehension to other people, you should know that you will never know if these things are true unless there is a concrete basis about this. These are only based on theories that once emerged, which is why if you will just look on the positive way, you will see these rumors as the representation of several prophecies. In order for you to determine if these are true, you should for 2012 in order to know if these happenings will really cause damage to mankind.

Avoid Being an April Fool on april fools day

Avoid Being an April Fool on april fools day

April Fools Day, April 1, is a day of lightheartedness, foolishness, and frivolity. It's also one of my favorite days of the year. Probably millions of harmless practical jokes are played on this day, and some of them may be directed at you. How do you avoid being tricked, or at least over tricked?

First of all, remember that it is April 1st, and take everything with a grain of salt. Expect silly things to happen and just go with the flow of it. Do not trust much of anything, including emails, phone calls, coworkers, and family.

Also remember the festivities really last more than a day. Some magazines I read always have a fake article, something truly absurd usually backed up by made up scientific research, in each April's issue. This may show up in late March or early April, not always on April first itself.

Be aware of jokes but don't be paranoid. Having someone pull a silly stunt on you doesn't make you a fool if you are having fun with it. Expect the unexpected and enjoy.

You might also consider some of your own April Fools stunts. There are plenty of silly things you can do that are fun and lighthearted, but be careful. For example a fake resignation letter at work might result in your losing your job, even if you put someone else's name on it. Make sure that whoever you are pulling jokes on will take them in the right spirit or at least in stride.

I'm not sure if I'll be an April Fool but I'll be foolish! See some of my other articles at Harley Davidson Watches or http://harleydavidsonwatches.net. I write on both silly and serious topics, but try to find some humor in everything.

April Fools Pranks Pull Off the Best Pranks This Y...

April fools day pranks: April Fools Pranks Pull Off the Best Pranks

The April Fools pranks that you should do are:
1. The first thing you do can is use fart spray. You can either spray this at your job or use it in a classroom or any room. It'll definitely clear out the room. Or if you really want to pull a prank on someone, spray them with the spray. They will stink all day long.
